Possum was rescued with her best friend Bonita. They were trapped in a stairwell of an abandoned building with no way out. We're not even sure how they got in there in the first place. There was a possum in one of the window wells and we figure both dogs were chasing him and that's how all three ended up where they were. That's also how Possum got her name. Everyone in the neighborhood, including the police, were so worried about their well being they contacted Stray Rescue. Their rescue was also filmed by Channel 2 news. After many failed attempts we were finally able to get both dogs (and the possum) to safety. Possum is a very sweet girl. almost a year after being rescued as a "feral' dog,Possum is now a nearly "normal" dog in her foster home. She likes to snuggle with her foster parents in bed, but can still be shy about being petted when she is out of bed. While she still does not like being leashed, she walks very
nicely on leash once she has it on. She has now had a chance to meet some kitties, and she is not particularly fond of them, so a cat-free home would be best. She likes to sun herself in the yard and just kind of hang out. She also does well with other dogs. She is crate trained and loves to play with her foster siblings. She's such a great girl. Whoever adopts her will be very lucky. If you would like to meet Possum please fill out one of the online applications
